The Apple Event could be this week, but not as we thought

No-Apple-Event

This spring, we are expecting a significant amount of news from Apple. And while there were already rumors about the next Apple Event of 2024, it seems that the winds have shifted towards much quieter launches, which could arrive this very week. Here is what we know.

Apple might announce new products this very week

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, despite the rumors, Apple has no plans to hold its traditional spring event. Instead, it seems that the company will opt to announce the products directly on its website, likely accompanied by a series of videos and marketing campaigns. As for the dates, sources from MacRumors claim that we will see the launches this very week.

It remains to be confirmed which products may be announced and whether they will all be announced at once or if Apple will decide to spread the launches over different days as we have seen in the past. In any case, the new features that have been proposed to arrive between March and April of this year cover various fronts and include:

  • Two new models of iPad Pro that are thinner, with the M3 chip, OLED screens, a new front camera, and other design changes. Accompanied by a new Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad and a new, more versatile Apple Pencil.
  • We also expect two new models of iPad Air with the M2 chip, a new camera, and the introduction of a 12.9-inch model for the first time in the history of this iPad line.
  • There has also been talk of updating the MacBook Air (which Jony Ive almost managed to eliminate) of 13 and 15 inches, with the M3 chip, promising faster performance and improvements in graphic rendering, as well as compatibility with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3
  • Finally, based on tradition, there are also rumors of the presentation of a new color for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. As well as new color options for iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands.
  • In addition, we cannot rule out surprises such as a possible new Apple TV, a HomePod with a screen, and, although less likely, the first signs of a fourth-generation iPhone SE.

Let's also remember that in the realm of software, the launch of iOS 17.4 is expected, with significant new features, as well as software updates for iPadOS 17.4, macOS 14.4, watchOS 10.4, and tvOS 17.4.

We will see how this last-minute change of plans unfolds (which reminds us, among other things, why the Cupertino company does not participate in events like MWC). Even without the traditional Apple event, anticipation for the upcoming announcements remains strong. We'll be keeping an eye out for any news this week.
