Apple's iPad family is about to receive major updates. It seems that, in addition to new iPad Pros, this year we will also see new iPad Airs. New size, new camera, new colors, and improved performance in the iPad Air
Maintaining the style introduced in 2020, with flat edges and a 10.9-inch screen, Apple now plans to expand this same design line with a new size: a 12.9-inch iPad Air. This change marks the first time the iPad Air will be available in two sizes, aligning with the iPad Pro line. A new size that will maintain, of course, the same LCD screen technology that has characterized the iPad Air. And that will allow many to enjoy the advantages of a larger screen without having to switch to the iPad Pro.
Another notable change will be the update of the camera system. According to leaked schematics, the new iPad Air models will feature a redesign in the camera bump, adopting a vertical design similar to that of some previous iPhone models, like the iPhone X. In addition, the same camera bump will include a flash, which we have never seen on the iPad Air. This change suggests significant improvements in the device's photographic capabilities, but the specific details have not yet been fully revealed.
Finally, we know how Apple plans a new Magic Keyboard design, with a style closer to a computer and made of aluminum. But it seems that this change will be exclusively for the iPad Pro line. The iPad Air models, both the 10.9-inch and the new 12.9-inch, will continue to be compatible with the current Magic Keyboard.
With its launch also scheduled for the end of March, along with all the new features that are coming in 2024, the new iPad Air models not only promise improvements in design and functionality but also a leap in performance, probably thanks to the incorporation of M2 or M3 chips.
