With August underway, Apple’s major fall event is fast approaching. We know, always according to the rumors, that the company is preparing to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a new foldable iPhone reportedly called the iPhone Ultra. Everything points to a keynote during the second week of September, but do we know the exact date?
September 8 or 9 are the most likely dates
According to Mark Gurman, Apple is considering Tuesday, September 8, or Wednesday, September 9, for the event. Both dates fit the company’s usual pattern, as Apple generally chooses one of the first Tuesdays or Wednesdays of the month to unveil its new iPhones.
In 2025, Apple announced the iPhone 17 event on August 26 and held it on September 9. In 2024, it maintained the same 14-day gap, while in 2023 it announced the keynote on August 29 and held it on September 12.
Therefore, if the keynote takes place on September 8 or 9, the invitation should arrive on Tuesday, August 25, or Wednesday, August 26. That would preserve Apple’s usual two-week lead time, giving the press enough time to prepare its coverage and arrange attendance at the Steve Jobs Theater.
A familiar schedule, but also a new one
While we have so far discussed Apple’s usual schedule, there is a major change to the release calendar for the devices we expect. This September’s event would be reserved exclusively for the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the new iPhone Ultra. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18, the iPhone 18e, and the iPhone Air 2 would arrive around March 2027.
The iPhone 18 Pro will, however, mark the arrival of iOS 27, a version featuring a wide range of new features and several secrets that already point to the future foldable iPhone joining the ecosystem.
