The Google Photos service enables us to store photos and videos from our iPhone, iPad, or Mac on Google's servers. With the free account limit set at 15 GB, there are also paid alternatives worth considering if we've run out of space on the service, which offer much more than just photo storage. Let's look at four to consider.
1. iCloud
Topping the list, we find iCloud, Apple's platform. The best part about subscribing to this service, whether it's 200 GB for $2.99 a month or 2000 GB for $9.99 a month, is that we can store much more than just photos. Everything from backups of our devices to the contents of iCloud Drive is accommodated in Apple's cloud.
Moreover, with a subscription to Apple One for $19.95 a month, we'll enjoy 50 GB of space for our photos along with services like Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple TV+.
2. Amazon Photos
Amazon Photos stands as a close alternative to Google Photos. Beyond storing images, being subscribed to Amazon Prime brings benefits such as fast and affordable shipping, access to Amazon Music, and Amazon Prime Video, one of the leading streaming platforms.
3. Dropbox
Dropbox is distinguished for being more than a photo platform. With an annual subscription, it provides 2000 GB to store any type of file. What really stands out about Dropbox is its excellent synchronization, reliability, and versatility.
4. Microsoft OneDrive
Similar to Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive offers 2000 GB of cloud space. For those who use tools like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, a subscription to Microsoft 365 not only grants access to these programs but also to OneDrive's storage space.
Clearly, the list of options and alternatives to Google Photos could go on. From Adobe's cloud, included with a Photoshop subscription, to services like Flickr, well-known in the sector. In the end, photo libraries grow at a dizzying pace, and we end up paying to store them, but as long as we're paying, we might as well get the best services.
