We are just a few weeks away from 2024 and we are still talking about the new features of iOS 17 and iOS 17.2. This operating system has already changed our iPhone a lot, but in 2024 it is ready to do so much, much more. There are several officially confirmed new features that will change the iPhone forever. Let's talk about it.
A very different iPhone in 2024
There are many rumors about the iPhone. At Hanaringo, we don't usually echo them, as they can always change, but on this occasion, we are talking about changes that have been officially confirmed by Apple. Changes as important as the arrival of RCS in the Messages app or a CarPlay that can bring us closer to the Apple Car like never before.
The first item on the list is, as we have just said, support for RCS in the Messages app. A support that will officially arrive "later next year" and will radically improve communication between iPhone and Android devices, facilitating the exchange of high-resolution photos and videos for free, audio messages, typing indicators, read receipts, Wi-Fi messaging, and more advanced group chats.
The second change, also significant, is the arrival of sideloading in Europe. Following the guidelines of the EU Digital Markets Act, Apple is preparing to allow sideloading of applications on iPhone. This means that we will be able to install apps from outside of Apple's App Store. Something that, as far as we know, will arrive during the first half of 2024, initially applying only in the countries of the European Union.
Another interesting change, although of more moderate importance, is the new CarPlay. A very interesting change that could be the beginning of much more. With the new CarPlay that Apple presented at WWDC in June this year, we will have a much deeper integration of the iPhone with the vehicle's functions, such as air conditioning and radio control, support for multiple screens on the dashboard, greater customization, and much more. The first vehicles compatible with this new CarPlay experience will be launched in 2024.
Finally, it's time to talk about satellite road assistance. With iOS 17, iPhone 14 and 15 models have gained the function of road assistance via satellite. This feature, which is already available in the U.S., allows you to contact the AAA roadside assistance company without any cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. A service that, to the relief of many travelers, will expand to other countries in 2024.
Four innovations on how iOS 17 continues to evolve and change what we can do with our iPhones. Changes, especially the first two, that will represent a significant turning point for Apple's devices and are about to arrive. About to arrive to make our phones even more capable and useful in our everyday lives.
