How to disable iPhone's Night Mode camera and keep it off

Cómo desactivar el modo nocturno de la cámara del iPhone y dejarlo desactivado hasta nuevo aviso

The cameras on our iPhones have taken a leading role for years. We always carry them with us and can use them in any environment, even at night. It's exactly the iPhone's Night Mode, a feature that radically transforms photography in low-light conditions, that we'll discuss today. Why? Because sometimes we might want to disable it.

A new control in nighttime photography

The iPhone's ability to capture images of impressive quality in dark environments is truly remarkable. This functionality relies both on the camera's hardware and software to brighten the darkest images, allowing us to obtain results that were unimaginable in a mobile device a few years ago. The night photography mode activates automatically in low-light situations, useful for many, but it might not be exactly what we're looking for at certain times.

Sometimes, the most creative nighttime photography doesn't require lighting up a scene completely as if it were daytime. Sometimes, capturing a halo of light or a shadow gives all the meaning to the photo. And in these cases, being able to disable Night Mode is just what we need. A mode that, subsequently, activates again automatically.

Do we want it to stay off until we decide to manually reactivate it? Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Open the Settings app on our iPhone.
  2. Go to the Camera option.
  3. Tap on Preserve Settings.
  4. Enable the Night Mode option.

With this option enabled, instead of the mode activating automatically after some time, it will maintain the choice we have made. If we disable it, it will stay disabled until further notice. The opposite is also true.

A minor adjustment that is interesting to consider for certain photographic sessions. An adjustment that will allow us to more comfortably explore what a nighttime photography session can offer us.
