New AirPods are on the horizon. It's the turn of the fourth generation of these wireless earbuds. And, according to new rumors, Apple is ready to start their production soon. Let's dive into what we expect from these new AirPods 4 models and when.

What the fourth-generation AirPods could look like

Innovation doesn't stop in Cupertino. As reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is preparing to start production of two new fourth-generation AirPods models in May. This means that we could enjoy them sometime between September and October.

Gurman anticipates that both models will feature a redesigned fit that promises better ear comfort, improved sound quality, and an updated charging case with a USB-C port. But that's not all: the high-end model will include active noise cancellation, hinting at the possibility that this model may use ear tips like the Pro version, and a speaker in the case that can emit sounds for location tracking through the Find My feature.

It seems that with the arrival of these models, Apple plans to stop producing both the second and third-generation AirPods. Although they won't be immediately withdrawn from the market, and we can still extract the best sound from them by keeping them well-maintained with, for example, this Belkin AirPods Cleaning Kit.

Regarding the AirPods Pro, Gurman notes that new models are not expected until next year, though he mentions that the current models might receive a "hearing aid mode" with the iOS 18 update. Additionally, it's rumored that Apple is working on a hearing test feature for the AirPods, highlighting Apple's commitment to ensuring its devices contribute valuably to the health and well-being of its users.

While we think we know a lot about these earbuds, it's very likely that Apple will completely surprise us along with the presentation of the iPhone 16 Pro, the design of which has already been leaked and is rumored to come in two new colors.
