When traveling, one of the most common tasks we need to do is translate certain conversations. This is relatively simple with apps dedicated to this, like the Translate app. In many cases, what's most important is the speed at which we have the translation of what interests us and the fluidity of communication. This is where the ability to translate any conversation on the iPhone with just the press of a button comes into play.
The Magic of the Action Button in Action
The first thing we have to do to make translating a conversation as easy as pressing the action button on our iPhone 15 Pro is to go to the Translate app and select the pair of languages we want to use. Remember, we do this by touching the language at the bottom and top of the Translation tab.
Once we have chosen, for example, English and Spanish, all that's left to do is set up the action button to take us to the translation function. We do this by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app on our iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max.
- Go to Action Button.
- Scroll sideways until we select the Translate option.
- Exit the Settings app.
Now, to translate any conversation, all we have to do is hold down the action button and speak. The moment we release the button, the iPhone will translate our request and show us both the original text and the translation, so we can make sure we are saying what we want to say. Then it will play the translation out loud, so we can hear it.
The system can process phrases and conversations in either of the two selected languages, we don't have to touch one or the other. This allows us to maintain really fluid conversations without having to resort to other applications or make additional selections. We just hold the button while speaking and let the other person listen to or read the translation. Then we hold the button to hear the response and read or listen to its translation.
The ability to instantly translate any phrase with just the press of a button is extremely useful in many scenarios, but especially when we are traveling and need a quick translation of certain messages. Thanks to the action button on our iPhone, communicating with practically anyone in the world is as simple as pressing a button and speaking.
