Since its release in Japan last year, Suzume has been a huge success. Makoto Shinkai's latest film conquered the international market just a few months ago. And now, it finally arrives on streaming so that everyone has the opportunity to immerse themselves in this captivating story directed by one of the contemporary masters of Japanese animation.

'Suzume', by Makoto Shinkai, arrives on Netflix

Suzume arrived yesterday on the Netflix platform. Which already adds a good number of quality animated films, among which are a large part of the Studio Ghibli collection or Avatar: The Last Airbender and its new live-action version full of nods to the original that has already confirmed second and third seasons.

The film brings us the story of Suzume, a 17-year-old girl who, trying to help a young man, opens a mysterious door amidst some ruins. But with the opening of that door, many others begin to open throughout Japan, unleashing catastrophes. And to prevent it, Suzume must travel throughout the country and close each of those doors.

After Your Name (2016) and Weathering With You (2019), this Makoto Shinkai story is a mix of fantasy and drama that aims to capture our imagination and take us to a world full of magic and emotion. Once again masterfully mixing the everyday life of his characters with extraordinary situations, always with a fantastic soundtrack in the background. Well, not in vain is he known as the new Hayao Miyazaki, who, by the way, seems to finally not be retiring yet after The Boy and the Heron.
