Today, instant communication is key. However, sometimes we find ourselves not getting a response to our FaceTime calls. Fortunately, we have a simple, efficient resource that has been among us for years in other formats: leaving a message.
A voicemail, but for video and FaceTime
For years, when a phone call goes unanswered, we leave a voicemail. In FaceTime, however, this was not an option until the arrival of iOS 17. Instead of just sending a text or voice message through the Messages app, now the FaceTime app itself offers us the option to leave a video message. A really convenient functionality, which quickly enriches our communication, allowing us to express ourselves much more directly in the app where we started the communication.
The process to leave a video or audio message is extremely simple. If our call is not answered, the interface will present three options: Call Back, Close, or Record a Video. By selecting the record option, we can record our message, review it, and send it, making sure our recipient receives exactly what we want to communicate.
Once sent, the recipient will receive a notification and will be able to find the message in their missed call log within FaceTime. From there, they can return the call or save the video in their Photos app.
With this small change, FaceTime becomes more useful for those times when communication cannot be instant. A way to leave our message in the most expressive way possible, which, by recovering a system we have been using for years, ensures that no call is, so to speak, left unanswered.
