The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max feature a characteristic not present in earlier phones: a programmable physical button known as the Action Button. This element replaces the classic silence/sound switch and goes much further, as it allows us to do practically anything with just a press. And now, how do we know if our iPhone is silenced? An Indicator That May Not Be Necessary
The Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is a significant advance in terms of customization and ease of use. It offers us multiple functionalities, such as opening the camera, executing shortcuts, or silencing the device, but we can no longer visually and at a glance know if the phone is in silent mode.
To compensate for the lack of a physical silence indicator, Apple has introduced a very simple solution. On the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models, once the silent mode is activated, a crossed-out bell icon appears next to the time in the status bar. An intuitive symbol indicating that the device is in silent mode.
Depending on how we use our iPhone and how often we keep it silenced, this visual indicator may seem unnecessary. If so, we can hide it by following these simple steps:
1. Open the Settings app on our iPhone 15 Pro.
2. Go to Sound & Vibration.
3. Deactivate (or activate) the option Show in Status Bar.
