They’re here. Apple has officially released iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, tvOS 27 and visionOS 27 after several months of beta testing since their unveiling at WWDC26. As we already saw when we went through everything Apple announced with iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate, these updates focus particularly on the evolution of Apple Intelligence, improving performance and accessibility, strengthening child safety and bringing us a host of smaller changes throughout the system. So, let’s take a look at what’s new.
Apple Intelligence comes to more apps and macOS gets Siri AI
The biggest new feature in iOS 27 is the expansion of Apple Intelligence into more parts of the system. Photos, Safari and other apps now include new tools that allow us to create content, find information and work more efficiently. Apple’s artificial intelligence is built directly into the apps we already know and enjoy, so we do not have to learn how to use new ones; we simply discover faster ways of doing the same things.
On the Mac, Siri AI is the star of the show. The new assistant understands our context, can hold much more natural conversations and can help us with personal information and actions inside our apps. After testing it for weeks, we have already explained at Hanaringo what Siri AI is like to use every day, and the conclusion is clear: this is a huge change in the way we interact with the Mac.
The situation in Europe deserves some clarification, particularly on the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Siri AI is not included in this first phase in the European Union and, alongside it, several directly related features have also been postponed. On the Mac, availability is complete, although Siri AI will only work in English during the first few weeks.
watchOS 27 focuses heavily on health, while iOS 27 improves our everyday experience
The Apple Watch places much of its focus on health and fitness. In watchOS 27, we find new measurements and more accurate data during runs and workouts. Apple has also improved the system’s overall responsiveness, gestures and the suggestions we receive from the Smart Stack.
In iOS 27, the first thing we will notice is speed. Apps open faster, the system responds more quickly and even transfers take less time. Apple has also improved the speed and stability of our phones’ cellular connections, particularly when they need to switch between Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
Lots of small new features that make a big difference together
Beyond the headline features, Apple has introduced changes across virtually the entire ecosystem. Individually, they are small details, but they become much more significant when we look at them as a whole. Some of the most interesting include:
- VoiceOver improves image descriptions and can generate and translate captions for any content.
- iCloud albums allow us to upload photos at full resolution and enable participation from Android and Windows devices.
- Maps significantly improves Flyover by combining aerial imagery with Visual Intelligence to deliver much clearer and more detailed images.
- AirPods now include an equalizer for adjusting bass, mids and treble.
- GymKit comes to the iPhone and AirPods Pro 3, allowing us to connect directly to compatible fitness equipment.
- macOS 27 supports ultrawide displays with resolutions of up to 5K at 120 Hz.
- The Home app can summarize security camera activity and find the videos we are looking for from a simple description.
