Optimizing window arrangement on our Mac is crucial for productivity. In macOS Sequoia, we have a new and significant tool for adjusting and organizing windows on the desktop easily. Let’s see how to use it to manage multiple windows simultaneously while maintaining a tidy and productive environment.

We drag the windows and the system handles the rest

The most straightforward way to organize windows on our Mac is by dragging them to the screen edges. By simply clicking on the top bar of a window and moving it to the desired edge, the window automatically snaps into place.

Dragging the window to either the right or left side will make it occupy half of the screen. Meanwhile, dragging it to a corner will make it take up a quarter of the screen. Notice that before releasing the window, a slightly shaded area will appear, indicating where the window will adjust.

If we want to be a bit quicker, we can press the Option key while dragging. This allows us to pin the window to a specific edge without needing to drag it all the way to the screen's extremity.

We can also use the green button

The green button located at the top-left corner of each window provides some additional adjustment options. By hovering over this button for a second or holding it down, options for adjusting the active window or even several at once will appear.

If our goal is to move and resize only the current window, we can select one of the available options in "Move and Resize." This lets us position the window on the left half, right half, or in one of the corners of the screen. However, if we're working with multiple windows, the "Fill and Organize" option helps us arrange them so as to maximize the use of available space.

Just like combining several Safari windows into one, this window management allows us, in a very simple way, to maintain an orderly and functional desktop when handling multiple sources of information. It's a detail that can significantly enhance our productivity, ensuring that our work environment is both orderly and efficient.
