On certain occasions, watching some series and movies can become unpleasant when dialogue gets lost amidst background noise or sound effects. Sometimes, we even resort to subtitles to avoid missing out on details. That's why Amazon Prime Video has introduced a new feature promising to enhance our viewing experience by making voices more audible.
What is Amazon's Dialogue Boost and how to use it
Amazon Prime Video has taken a step forward with the introduction of a new feature called Dialogue Boost. This allows us to increase the volume of dialogue in relation to background music and effects, creating a more comfortable viewing experience.
What makes Dialogue Boost a significant innovation is its focus on artificial intelligence. Instead of applying voice enhancements to all content, it utilizes advanced algorithms to identify specific moments where dialogue may be difficult to understand. It then selectively improves only those parts of the audio related to that dialogue, rather than simply amplifying the central channel, as other conventional systems do.
This feature, available on all devices supporting Prime Video, offers two intensity options (medium and high). During playback, we can select the level of Dialogue Boost we desire through the audio and subtitles menu.
For now, this newly launched feature is only available on select Amazon Originals and certain movies: Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Harlem, as well as The Big Sick, Beautiful Boy, and Being the Ricardos. But the feature will expand to more titles later this year.
Until now, similar solutions to this common annoyance were only accessible to those with high-end home theater systems, specialized audio equipment, or select smart TVs. However, with Dialogue Boost, Amazon Prime Video offers an innovative solution to all platform users and paves the way for other streaming services to follow its example.
