Apple has released updates and, with them, long-awaited improvements arrive for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS, tvOS, and visionOS. We’re talking about iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, watchOS 11.4, macOS Sequoia 15.4, tvOS 18.4, and visionOS 2.4—versions that evolve Apple Intelligence on our devices and come with a more-than-considerable list of small but significant enhancements. From features in the Photos app to new widgets, improvements to Siri, Maps, the App Store, the Find My app or Control Center, there are many details that significantly enhance how we use our devices.
Apple Intelligence: arrives in Europe with more features and new languages
The presentation of Apple Intelligence already made it clear that the future of our devices lies in artificial intelligence. With iOS 18.4, the rollout of Apple Intelligence takes another step forward, as it arrives in Europe and expands to new languages.
Apple Intelligence now supports Spanish from Spain, French from France, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and English in several new locations.
This allows us to use writing tools in any text in these languages. We can ask Siri questions, and it can call on ChatGPT for more complex queries. And of course, we can use the image tools to remove elements from photos, create Memojis, or entire images in Image Playground. Apple Intelligence also introduces priority notifications, which appear at the top of the Notification Center to show only what truly matters.
Let’s remember that Apple Intelligence is available on all iPhone 16 models, as well as on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The same applies to iPads and Macs: any device with an M1 chip or later can start taking advantage of these new tools.
iOS 18.4: new features in Photos, Siri, Maps, the App Store and more
Besides Apple Intelligence, iOS 18.4 comes with a long list of improvements to key apps. In Photos, for example, we can now filter images that aren’t in any album, hide the “Recently Viewed” and “Recently Shared” collections, and even reorder media types.
In Safari, we now see recent searches when tapping the address bar—something subtle, but helpful for quickly revisiting previously searched topics. In the App Store, review summaries from other users give us a clearer view of each app, and the download system now allows us to pause and resume apps without losing progress.
There are also new features in Siri, including new Australian voices, improvements to the “Type to Siri” feature, and more control when activating it from the side button or Control Center. Apple Maps now lets us set a preferred language, and in Passwords, verification codes have a countdown indicator showing when they will change.
macOS Sequoia 15.4 and visionOS 2.4: categories in Mail, spatial galleries, and smart writing
Mac also receives new features with macOS Sequoia 15.4. Mail is now organized into categories like Promotions, Updates, or Transactions, leaving the most important messages in a main section. New emojis are also here, along with improvements in Photos to create movies from memories, and more options in Image Playground with the new Sketch style.
As for the Vision Pro, visionOS 2.4 brings Apple Intelligence to Apple’s spatial computer for the first time. This gives us access to Writing Tools, Genmoji, Notification Summaries, and the new Siri with ChatGPT integration. The content we can enjoy also expands thanks to the new Spatial Gallery app, which compiles immersive photos and videos from artists, filmmakers, and Apple TV+.
The new Vision Pro app, available on iPhone with iOS 18.4, lets us manage content, apps, and settings without needing to wear the headset. It also improves Guest Mode, which now allows a person’s personal settings to be saved for up to 30 days after their last use.
Much more than just updates
While in Europe the arrival of Apple Intelligence marks a turning point, the updates come with multiple changes that, taken together, represent a major evolution. As we await iOS 19 and all the new features we’ll see at WWDC 25 in just a couple of months, iOS 18 still has plenty of life ahead.
In Settings > General > Software Update on any of our devices, we’ll find the update ready to install. Updates that let us do more, more comfortably, efficiently, and intelligently.
