How to Program Actions and Automations at Home Through Siri

Cómo programar acciones y automatizaciones en casa a través de Siri

Home automation is one of the areas that has advanced the most in recent years, allowing us to control various devices in our home using voice. Automation is one of the most sought-after features in these devices, as it allows us to simplify tasks and save time.

Siri can manage our automations efficiently and comfortably. All we have to do is make the request, taking into account the time when we want it to be carried out, and that's it.

More Options to Interact with Our Home

Previously, we could ask Siri to perform actions on the spot, like turning lights on or off, or raising and lowering curtains, for example. However, if we tried to schedule actions for a specific time, Siri couldn't help us.

That's a thing of the past, fortunately. Now, we can ask Siri things like, "Hey Siri, in 20 minutes turn on the kitchen lamp." These actions will be programmed in the automation tab of the Home app and will be executed automatically at the indicated time.

A request like, "Hey Siri, turn off the terrace lights every day at 22:00" also has its effect. While the first, the one-off action, will disappear from the automation tab after it's done, the other, being recurrent, will stay there until we deactivate or delete it manually. In both cases, we can edit the automation to change it.

This simple function greatly simplifies the process of programming actions for those who are new to the world of home automation, and also provides more flexibility and convenience for those of us who are already familiar with it. Just as we can configure Siri to listen to us for longer when we talk to it, this is a function that allows us to get much better performance from the home automation devices in our home. Just what we're looking for, not just a switch that we can activate from the iPhone, but an automation that we can forget about.
