Apple Music's favorite songs list allows us to collect in one place all those pieces we consider outstanding within the service's broad catalog. By default, these songs, when added to the list, are also added to our library. Something that, if we wish, we can avoid.
Favorite Songs, but Without Being Part of Our Music Library
Until recently, marking a song as a favorite in the Music app automatically added it to our library. Although convenient, this could create some disorder. Fortunately, we now have the option to avoid this automatic addition, which is ideal for those times when we want to highlight a song as a favorite without adding it to our regular repertoire.
Deactivating this function is really simple, these are the exact steps we want to take:
- Open the Settings app on our iPhone or iPad.
- Go to the Music section.
- Turn off the Add Favorite Songs option in the "Library" section.
With these steps, the songs we mark as favorites will no longer be automatically saved in the library. It is important to remember, however, that this will not affect songs that are already in the library for having been marked as favorites before. They will remain there until we decide to remove them manually.
If we decide to do so, we must be careful, as removing the songs from the library could remove their mark as favorites. In this sense, it is better that we proceed with some caution and, if necessary, re-mark the songs that we have removed from the library with the little star next to their name.
It's a small detail, true, but one that makes an important difference in managing our music library. In this sense, being able to prevent favorite songs from being saved in our library, really sounds good.
