Max sets date in Europe: here's what will change

Max-llega-a-Europa

The evolution from HBO Max to Max brings a renewal that goes beyond a mere rebranding. This launch promises to enrich the platform's streaming experience, offering a merger of catalogs that includes the best of HBO, Warner Bros., and Discovery+. And we already know the date this change will arrive in Europe.

Max in Europe: Launch Date

The farewell to the iconic purple aesthetic of HBO Max marks the beginning of a new era with Max, whose identity is revealed in a fresh and renewed blue interface. This transformation is scheduled to arrive in Europe on May 21st.

It will also launch simultaneously in Spain, Portugal, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Nordic countries. It will be followed by Poland, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium, completing an ambitious deployment that will bring Max to 25 European countries and 65 territories worldwide.

Max in Europe: A Broader and More Diverse Catalog

With this move, Max not only changes its visual identity but also expands its content offering, merging the existing catalog of HBO, Max, and Warner Bros. with that of Discovery+, thus creating the so-called "Max Universe."

With this integration, users will have access to a wide range of additional content, including channels such as Discovery Channel, Discovery Home & Health, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Discovery Kids, and the sports coverage of Eurosport.

This significantly enriches the Max catalog, offering options for every family member and every type of enthusiast, from documentaries and cooking shows to cartoons and top-tier sports events. All under a new and renewed interface.

The arrival of Max also coincides with the event of the year: the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. From July 26th to August 11th, Max will provide complete coverage of the games, including all live events. This full access will be available to all Max users, regardless of their subscription plan, and without the need to purchase any additional sports add-on.

It's important to note that, depending on the platform, users may experience an automatic app update or, in certain cases like on Android, will need to perform the change manually, keeping in mind that the old app will remain on the device until it is manually removed by the user.

Max in Europe: Plans and Prices

Max introduces two main subscription plans in Europe: Standard and Premium. The Standard plan allows users to enjoy content in Full HD and on two devices simultaneously, with the possibility of up to 30 downloads for offline viewing. On the other hand, the Premium plan elevates the experience to another level, with support for 4K content, Dolby Atmos, and up to four simultaneous devices, increasing the download limit to 100. Initially, a third basic plan with ads will only be available in 9 countries: Belgium, France, Poland, Romania, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway.

Additionally, the Sports Add-on will offer access to Eurosport 1 and 2, expanding the range of available sports events, from the 24 Hours of Le Mans to the Tour de France, the Vuelta a España, and Roland Garros. This add-on reflects the importance of sports within the Max Universe, including the exclusivity of the UFC rights in Spain.

The transformation from HBO Max to Max represents much more than a simple name change. With a renewed interface, a significant expansion in the content catalog, and a variety of subscription options, Max aims to set a new standard in digital entertainment.
