How to keep Mac's keyboard backlight always on

Cómo mantener la retroiluminación del teclado de nuestro Mac siempre encendida

Since Apple introduced backlit keyboards in the MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air, we've discovered the convenience of being able to work in low-light environments without straining our eyes. The soft light emanating from behind each key enhances the aesthetics of the device and undoubtedly significantly improves our usage experience in low-light conditions.

Total control over keyboard backlighting

Although the operating system of our MacBooks is designed to automatically adjust the keyboard brightness according to the lighting conditions of the environment, it is also possible to take control of this feature. With this, we can ensure that the keyboard backlight remains continuously on.

To make this adjustment, simply follow the steps below:

  1. In the Apple menu (), click on System Settings.
  2. Go to Keyboard.
  3. Uncheck the option Adjust keyboard brightness in low light.
  4. In Turn off the keyboard backlight after X minutes of inactivity, select Never.
  5. Adjust the backlight level to your liking with the slider that appears when you deactivate the option in step three.

With these changes, the lighting of our keyboard will remain constant and exactly at the level we just set. Something that will not depend on changes in ambient lighting.

Adapting the keyboard backlighting of our MacBooks to our style and work needs clearly improves our user experience and also allows us to work more comfortably in any environment. Just as we can adjust the brightness of our iPad's Magic Keyboard, with these simple steps, we will ensure that, wherever we are, our Mac's keyboard is lit up as we prefer.
