The release of iOS 27 is still a few months away, slated for this fall, but we’re already starting to get a fairly clear picture of what Apple is preparing for our iPhones. According to the rumors, we’re talking about an update that combines new Apple Intelligence features, connectivity improvements, and a very clear focus on system stability. A slightly different version, from what we know, but a very interesting one. Let’s go over all the new features we expect.
A Siri that becomes much more conversational
One of the most important changes in iOS 27 will be Siri’s evolution into a conversational assistant capable of maintaining a full dialogue. According to leaked information, as reported by MacRumors, Apple is preparing a chatbot with features similar to what we find in ChatGPT or Google Gemini. With the new Siri, we’ll be able to ask for information, request advice, and even have conversations with full context, without having to repeat ourselves.
The new version of Siri with Apple Intelligence, in cooperation with Google for some of the underlying language models, will mark the arrival of the personalization features Apple announced to us at last year’s WWDC24. From here, we expect an evolution in the chatbot’s capabilities that, according to the rumors, will arrive with a dedicated app for our iPhone screens this fall.
Apple Intelligence will expand to more apps
Apple’s AI strategy with iOS 27 is to integrate this technology directly into the apps we already use, so we don’t have to learn how to use new tools. Among the most notable rumors, we find the arrival of smart features in the Calendar app, which could automatically suggest adjustments to our events or remind us of important activities based on our interaction history.
On the AI front, we’ve also heard mentions of an Apple Health+ service, which would offer us personalized health and fitness recommendations within the Health app. While the latest rumors say Apple has decided to integrate these features directly into the app rather than as a separate service, what’s clear is that AI wants to serve our health by drawing on the data our iPhone securely collects.
Satellite connectivity and a focus on stability
Leaving AI aside, which will no doubt be the focus of iOS 27, another major new feature we expect is 5G connectivity via satellite. With it, we’ll be able to send and receive data even when we’re out of range of traditional networks. This feature would be available in future iPhone 18 Pro models with the new C2 modem, and it opens the door to genuinely useful scenarios, such as using Apple Maps with no coverage or sending messages through Messages in situations where we previously would have been cut off.
At the same time, Apple seems to be taking a very interesting direction with iOS 27: improving the system’s overall quality. Just as happened with Mac OS X Snow Leopard years ago, the priority will be fixing bugs, optimizing performance, and giving us a smoother, more reliable experience. The new Liquid Glass aesthetic would receive a few tweaks, and battery life would even improve thanks to the general cleanup and tuning.
iOS 27 will arrive as a beta during WWDC26 in June and, as usual, its official release will come in September. Between a much more powerful Siri, more Apple Intelligence features that integrate naturally, and connectivity improvements—without even counting all the new features we haven’t heard about and won’t hear rumors about until its official release—this will be one of those updates that makes a difference. An operating system that will make our iPhones faster, more useful, and above all, smarter.
