We already have iOS 26.2 with us, the last update of the year when it comes to bringing new features to our iPhone. And we are not talking only about minor fixes, but about new functions that allow us to interact more comfortably with apps such as Reminders, Music, Podcasts or even with the lock screen itself. Once updated, let’s take a look at the new features available to us.
New features in Reminders, AirDrop, Apple Music, Podcasts and much more
The Reminders app brings us a really interesting new feature in this update. We can now set alarms to notify us about a task. By marking the “Urgent” option within the reminder, the system schedules an alarm that, when it goes off, allows us to snooze it or complete it. If we choose to snooze it, we will see a countdown and the options to reschedule or mark the reminder as done.
The lock screen also has a small new feature in iOS 26.2. We can now customise the appearance of the clock using a slider that adjusts transparency, from almost invisible to a more pronounced frosted glass effect.
As for AirDrop, we can now create temporary codes to quickly share files with people who are not in our contacts on an ongoing basis. This access lasts 30 days, and we can manage all active codes from Settings > General > AirDrop > Manage known AirDrop contacts.
Apple Music now offers song lyrics offline. When we download a song, its lyrics will also be available.
In the Podcasts app, we now have automatic chapters and quick access to other shows or links that are mentioned in the episodes.
Other apps have also received new features. The list of changes is as follows:
- The Freeform app now supports tables within boards to organise ideas visually.
- Weather now understands relative dates such as “next Friday” for weather alerts.
- Apple News debuts a more practical design, with buttons at the top for sports, politics, business and a new Follow section independent from search.
- We can now configure notifications and alerts to use the screen (flashing white) in addition to the rear LED for a more prominent alert.
- The Measure app redesigns its bubble level with a Liquid Glass-style look.
- The Games app lets us sort the library by size and shows real-time updates for challenges.
- CarPlay offers us the option to disable pinned messages in the Messages app, bringing back the classic view.
- In Settings > Passwords we can now manage the websites where we have chosen not to save credentials.
All the new features we have just seen also arrive, of course, on the iPad with iPadOS 26.2. On the iPad, the update additionally expands multitasking options, as we can now drag apps from the library, the Dock or Spotlight directly into Slide Over or split view to use more than one app at the same time.
With iOS 26.2, which should be the last update of this 2025, Apple brings us several new features and small tweaks to the functions we enjoy every day. An update that, just like iOS 26.1 and all its new features, includes its share of security improvements and that we can install from Settings > General > Software Update to enjoy all the changes.
