Has iOS 19 leaked? Here’s everything we know so far

WWDC 2025 rumores

We’re just weeks away from WWDC 2025, and rumors about iOS 19 are gaining momentum like rarely before. The spotlight is on what appears to be a complete redesign of the system — a change that, according to some sources, could mark the biggest visual leap since iOS 7 launched in 2013. While nothing is official yet, a mix of leakers’ descriptions and Apple’s own hints in the WWDC25 invitation give us a pretty clear idea of what to expect. Let’s break down what we know — and what we can infer — about the new iPhone operating system.

A redesign clearly inspired by visionOS

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has been one of the most insistent voices for months, claiming that iOS 19 will bring a full redesign. We’re talking about a transformation that would affect not just the iPhone, but also the iPad — and even the Mac, which is also set to get a visual refresh with the arrival of macOS 16.

According to Gurman, the new design is based on visionOS — the operating system of the Apple Vision Pro — and embraces its principles of depth, transparency, floating buttons, and a three-dimensional aesthetic focused on content. It’s a more fluid, “glass-like” style, with layers that merge through transparency and blur.

The idea, in Gurman’s own words, is to fully modernize the system to adapt it to a new generation of users — without sacrificing functionality.

What are other leakers saying?

Gurman isn’t the only one sharing this vision. Jon Prosser, another familiar face in the Apple leaks world, has shared a few details pointing to a less radical redesign — though he does confirm visual elements taken directly from visionOS. A few months ago, Prosser showed a possible design for the new Camera app, with buttons floating on screen, and now he’s shown a screenshot of the Messages app.

In that screenshot, the changes are subtle, but there are clear updates. We see, for example, glass-like buttons, slightly rounded and reflective, a keyboard with softer edges, and a layout that, while not entirely new, begins to show aesthetic cues that could spread throughout the system.

According to Prosser, the redesign isn’t as dramatic as what we saw with iOS 7, though some sections do show more noticeable changes. The biggest visual updates, for now, seem to be in the Camera app and the Settings app, while other areas still keep their general structure.

What has Apple already hinted at?

Beyond what leakers are saying, there’s something we have officially seen: Apple’s own announcement for WWDC 2025. With its frosted-glass look, transparent effects, and reflections, it’s more than just a pretty design — it’s a clear nod to the visual direction we’ll see in visionOS 3 and iOS 19.

If that weren’t enough, the event animation includes motion and depth effects that reinforce the idea of a much more dynamic visual language — just like what we’ve already begun to see on the Vision Pro.

All signs point to a very visual WWDC

While we wait for the official presentation and final confirmation of the new look, the amount and consistency of these clues strongly suggest a major visual overhaul. iOS 19 — which we also expect to bring tighter integration with Apple Intelligence — seems set on changing our iPhone experience for good.

As we saw with the arrival of iOS 7, the impact of a visual change is instant and universal. Beyond internal updates, a transformation of this scale redefines how we feel about the system every time we use it. In that sense, all signs suggest iOS 19 will be one of the most anticipated releases in a long time. And from the looks of it, Apple is more than ready to surprise us.
