It's not very common for a device that we wear on our wrist to get lost, but it's also not beyond the realm of possibility. For example, when charging it on the nightstand, we might leave it in a drawer without realizing it. Fortunately, we can locate our Apple Watch from the iPhone, make it emit a sound, and find it very easily.
Our Watch, Always Locatable
For some time now, it has been possible to make our iPhone emit a sound from the Apple Watch. This widely used and appreciated feature is now available in reverse with iOS 17. Now, the "Play Sound on Apple Watch" option allows us to quickly locate our watch when it is within Bluetooth range.
Activating this feature is simple. We just open the Settings app, select Control Center, and add Play Sound on Apple Watch to our options. Once this is done, by swiping down from the top right corner to access the Control Center and touching the corresponding button, our Apple Watch will emit a clear sound, as long as it is in range and connected via Bluetooth.
We can tap the button repeatedly, enough to hear in detail where the sound is coming from and find our Apple Watch. If the watch is out of Bluetooth range, the Find My app becomes our best ally, allowing us to locate the Apple Watch almost anywhere in the world, thanks to the Apple Find My network.
The truth is that small details like these, although not regularly or commonly used, are very useful. In a given moment, instead of searching more than half the house for our watch, we can ask it to emit a sound and locate it in a matter of seconds.
