In our interaction with the Mac, the Magic Keyboard plays a crucial role. This keyboard, equipped with a long-lasting rechargeable battery, greatly simplifies our experience by eliminating the constant need to change AA batteries. Despite its impressive battery life of several weeks, eventually, the time comes when we need to charge it. But how do we determine when that time is? Very easy, we check the battery status from the Mac.
How to check the Mac keyboard battery
The built-in battery life of the Magic Keyboard is more than remarkable, allowing us to use it for approximately a month or more between charges. To make sure we don't run out of charge at an inconvenient moment, macOS makes it easy to view the battery level with a few simple steps:
- Access System Settings from the Apple menu ().
- Select the Keyboard option.
- In the "My Devices" section, next to "Magic Keyboard," check the battery percentage.
Alternatively, we can perform this check even more quickly from the menu bar. Simply click on the Control Center and then on the Bluetooth button on the right side, avoiding the blue button that would deactivate the service. Here, we will find a list of connected devices and their remaining battery next to the name.
Finally, in case we forget to check the battery level, macOS will notify us. The operating system will notify us when the battery level is less than 10%, providing us with enough time to continue using the keyboard, even for several days, and charge it when it's convenient for us.
Given how essential the Magic Keyboard is, being able to check its charge to avoid unexpected interruptions is really interesting. Fortunately, as we have just seen, we have a couple of resources to access this information very easily. And if we forget, our Mac will take care of notifying us. And with that, after a short charge, we will continue to enjoy our Mac.
