Belkin BoostCharge, review: the ultimate in-car charger in power and quality

Belkin BoostCharge

All our devices need their batteries charged, but who has time to charge them? Fast charging is becoming more and more widespread, power optimisation is something we now expect, and being able to charge our iPhone, as well as our iPad and even our Mac, in the car is really convenient. If we are using the device, whether in Maps to get to a destination or working as passengers, having unlimited battery is great.

If we are simply on the move, the time in the vehicle can be very valuable for us to fill up the batteries of our devices. In this context, the Belkin BoostCharge 75W Retractable Car Charger appears as a key accessory for our day to day. Design, power, features and quality are its key points, but there is more.

Design and finish: compact, discreet and elegant

Belkin products catch your eye. The 75W BoostCharge Retractable Car Charger is no exception, but there are some nuances. Nuances because we are talking about a charger that, seen up close, stands out for the quality and finishes Belkin has us used to, but that also knows how to disappear into the interior of our vehicle. A black, low-profile charger that fits elegantly into practically any dashboard and does so with a discreet design that blends in with the car.

If we move closer to it again, on the front we find a USB-C port and a USB-A port, while a 75 cm retractable USB-C cable comes out of the body. We pull the cable to the length we need and, after charging, a small tug is enough to retract it again. The whole mechanism is solid, resistant and at the same time quick and smooth in its movement.

Belkin uses recycled plastic for the body of the charger and opts for plastic-free packaging. A detail that quickly moves into the background once we have it installed in our car, but which reflects the company’s interest in reducing environmental impact.

Charging power: up to 75 W for iPhone, iPad and Mac

As its name indicates, the BoostCharge 75W Retractable Car Charger can offer us up to 75 W of maximum power, intelligently distributed among its three charging points. The integrated USB-C cable supports up to 60 W, enough for the vast majority of current laptops, while the front USB-C and USB-A ports complete the setup. Thanks to this distribution, we can charge a MacBook, an iPhone and a pair of AirPods at the same time during a single journey.

Belkin uses a dynamic power distribution that adapts delivery according to the devices we connect. If we connect only our iPhone 17 Pro, the charger prioritises its fast charging, but if we add an iPad or a MacBook, the power is redistributed in real time. In practice, this results in better charging times: the charger takes an iPhone 17 Pro from 0 % to 50 % in approximately 32 minutes, according to our tests, while an iPad Pro M4 takes 38 minutes.

As it is USB-C we can, of course, charge practically any device. Support for standards such as USB-C PD and PPS allows every device to receive the right power for its charging profile.

Order in the car, safety and price: the complete package

The 75 cm retractable cable gives us enough reach to get to our iPhone mount on the dashboard or even to the rear seats. At the end of the journey or the charge, a simple tug pulls it back into the charger body. It may seem like a minor detail, but keeping the cable retracted makes a very clear difference to the feeling of order, cleanliness and comfort when getting in and out of the car every day.

The size of the charger also allows us to leave it permanently installed without it getting in the way, something ideal when we use the car both for short trips and for long journeys. The connector fits firmly into the 12 V socket, enough that we can plug and unplug cables without pulling on the charger itself. Something we may not usually need with the built-in cable, but extremely convenient.

Like all Belkin chargers, this one incorporates its SmartProtect technology, with multiple protection systems against overheating, power surges and other electrical incidents. A system that passes more than 239 internal tests and to which we must add a 2-year warranty and a Connected Equipment Warranty of up to 2 500 dollars for the equipment connected to the charger.

In terms of price, the BoostCharge 75W Retractable Car Charger comes in at 34.99 euros, a very interesting figure if we consider the quality of its construction, the power available and the seal of a brand with Belkin’s reputation.

All in all, the Belkin BoostCharge 75W Retractable Car Charger earns its place in our car as an everyday tool that knows how to disappear behind its usefulness. Its combination of compact design, retractable cable, three charging points, up to 75 W of power and quality in all materials and finishes makes charging our devices in the car more convenient, safer and easier. A small change that makes a big difference.
