It's very common to use the Reminders app on our iPhone for noting down daily or weekly shopping. Being aware of this, our phone is ready to make the task a bit easier by automatically organizing our list into categories or sections. This simplifies the process of reading and checking what to buy while we are at it.
Simplifying our shopping with an automatic organization
When creating a list in the Reminders app, we have the option to automatically classify the items in it by categories. This function is especially useful in supermarkets and stores, where quick and efficient searching is essential.
The categories in the Reminders app cover a wide range of products. From fresh products to wines, beers, and spirits, including snacks, sweets, household items, fruit and vegetables, and much more. With this classification, each item we add is automatically assigned to the corresponding category, ensuring meticulous organization and a more agile shopping experience.
Activating this option for our shopping list is very easy. Assuming we are running iOS 17 or later on our device, the steps to follow are:
- Open the Reminders app on our iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on Add List.
- Name the list, choose a color and an icon for it, and specify "Shopping" as the List Type.
- Start adding items to the list.
As we include various items, the app automatically organizes them into the appropriate categories. If an item does not fit into any category, the app places it in an uncategorized section, which, it must be said, rarely happens given its ability to recognize specific brands and types of food, but it is also useful.
If we need, we can further customize our shopping lists with the option to create our own categories. We do this by tapping on New Section in the dropdown menu that appears when tapping the three dots.
The enhanced shopping list feature is another example of how technology can easily simplify our daily tasks. Small changes and aids that, once activated, make certain tasks, in this case, shopping, much more efficient.
