Exercise as a New Year’s resolution? Apple Watch and these new Apple Fitness+ features are here to help us reach our goals

¿Ejercicio como resolución de año nuevo? El Apple Watch y estas novedades de Apple Fitness+ están aquí para que cumplamos nuestros objetivos

The start of the year is synonymous with good intentions and, among them, staying active and taking care of our health usually ranks high. Apple knows it, and that’s precisely why it offers us everything we need so that in 2026 we can reach our goals easily. With Apple Watch as our training companion and the new Apple Fitness+ updates, we enjoy the best tools to stay consistent and turn our daily exercise into a source of health, with its dose of fun.

Our Apple Watch supports us day after day

Apple Watch is the ideal ally when we’re looking to stay active. With its metrics, smart reminders, and its ability to accompany us in any workout, the results are tangible. The latest study Apple has conducted shows this, where participants who use Apple Watch regularly manage to increase their exercise levels in January and keep them up even beyond spring.

During the first two weeks of January, more than 60% of users increase their daily active minutes by 10% compared to December. And what’s most interesting is that, once that initial momentum is achieved, almost 80% maintain those levels for the rest of the month and 90% sustain them through March. Statistics like these confirm that consistency is vital, and much easier when we have numbers, motivation—for example with the Activity rings—and certain challenges that encourage us to keep going.

In this last area, the month of January arrives, as in previous years, with the limited-edition award “Start the Year on the Right Foot,” which we can earn by closing all three Activity rings for seven consecutive days. And will we only get a shiny image on our watch? Maybe, but the real reward will be received by our body.

New Apple Fitness+ programs to guide our return to exercise

Alongside the motivation of Apple Watch, Apple Fitness+ has been updated with several programs designed to accompany us week by week and help us build more sustainable training habits. This January we find four new proposals:

  • Get Back to Exercise, a four-week plan with strength, HIIT, and yoga sessions of just 10 minutes to get the habit back easily.
  • Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks, designed to gain flexibility, reduce stress, and improve stability through short series that are easy to fit into any day.
  • Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT, a three-week plan with combined 20-minute workouts that maximize time and intensity.
  • 3 Masterful Weeks of Strength, ideal for learning and refining the technique of essential movements while we build confidence in every session.

More ways to stay active and enjoy the process

The whole experience is designed so that we can train anywhere, whether from iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. In Fitness+, thanks to Apple Watch, the metrics for each workout appear in real time. We can see calories, heart rate, and progress on the rings, so we can measure and celebrate every step.

Between Apple Watch and the new Apple Fitness+ features, we have within reach a combination of motivation, data, and guided workouts that support us in getting back to exercise, or going further if we already practice it regularly. In 2026, meeting our exercise goals can be fun, dynamic, and full of small achievements to celebrate day after day. Are we ready to close the rings and start the new year?
