Everything we know about Apple Vision Pro 2. Is there a cheaper option?

Apple Vision Pro 2 rumores

The Apple Vision Pro has been the subject of admiration for its advanced technology and design since its launch. And Apple is already working on what will be the second generation of this device, with a few intermediate steps along the way. Let's look at the company's future plans for this revolutionary device.

Since its launch in February, the Apple Vision Pro has only been available in the United States. But at the last WWDC 2024, Apple announced a first expansion of the device, which will arrive in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore on June 28 and in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom on July 12. In addition, there are already rumors about the development of a more accessible version of the device and a second professional generation.

More affordable Apple Vision Pro by the end of 2025

By the end of 2025, Apple plans to launch a more economical version of the Vision Pro to make augmented reality technology accessible to all users. However, to significantly reduce the cost of this model, internally named N107, we might see some quite notable changes compared to the original device.

Specifically, in his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman talks about the model N107, which Apple seems to have been working on since before the launch of the Vision Pro itself. This model would come with a narrower field of view and, above all, would be dependent on an iPhone or a Mac via a wired connection. Because the processing power and the components necessary to make the Vision Pro a fully autonomous product have their price.

This means that, although initially we could have almost all the advantages of the Vision Pro at a lower price, there would be significant limitations in mobility and ease of use in environments such as travel or situations where connectivity might be difficult. Additionally, Mark Gurman notes that Apple still faces significant challenges in reducing costs without foregoing the critical features of the Vision Pro.

Apple Vision Pro 2 for the end of 2026

Apple is also beginning to develop what will be the second generation of the professional model of the device: the Vision Pro 2. Known internally as N109, according to Mark Gurman, this new version will include a faster chip and significant improvements in the external cameras, enhancing the user experience and optimizing overall performance.

Moreover, another critical aspect that Apple seems to be taking very seriously with the Vision Pro 2 is its ergonomics. Comfort is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges for head-worn devices, and Apple seems to have taken good note of this. The company is looking for ways to make the second generation lighter and more comfortable to wear, which is essential for it to be pleasant to adopt augmented reality technology in prolonged daily activities.

As for the dates, the more affordable model of the Vision Pro is expected by the end of 2025, so there is still time for Apple to find the best way to bring us a great product at a good value for money. And as for the Apple Vision Pro 2, its launch is scheduled for no earlier than the end of 2026, giving Apple ample margin to perfect its technology and ensure that the new model represents a substantial improvement over its predecessor, exceeding all our expectations and making its technology accessible and enjoyable for an even wider audience.
