Apple unveils a new MacBook Pro, new iPad Pro, updates to Vision Pro, and more

Novedades Octubre 2025

In a surprise move, Apple has unveiled a considerable number of updates. The new M5 chip arrives to impress us in the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, the new iPad Pro, and also in the Apple Vision Pro. Devices now updated with more capabilities, better support for artificial intelligence, and a significant boost in graphics performance. And there’s more: we’re also getting new accessories for the Vision Pro and a long list of smaller upgrades across various areas. Let’s take a look at everything that’s new.

A new MacBook Pro with M5 for the AI era

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip becomes, thanks to its new silicon, the most complete laptop for any demanding workflow. With a design we already know, this laptop with Liquid Retina XDR display and up to 24 hours of battery life now features several improvements that make a real difference.

  • It’s up to 3.5 times faster in AI tasks, thanks to the new GPU with integrated neural accelerators in each core.
  • Graphics are 60% faster, ideal for video editing, 3D modelling, or enjoying demanding games.
  • Multitasking is smoother and faster, thanks to the new 10-core CPU that delivers 20% more multi-core performance and unified memory with 150 GB/s of bandwidth.
  • Storage speed has also increased, now doubling that of the previous model, allowing us to open heavy projects or load local language models with impressive speed.

The most powerful iPad Pro to date

The new iPad Pro gets the same M5 chip as the MacBook Pro, completely transforming its potential. Available in 11 and 13 inches, this iPad Pro maintains the ultra-thin design —only 5.1 mm in the larger model— that we already know, but debuts a new screen.

  • The new Ultra Retina XDR display with tandem OLED technology allows us to enjoy content at up to 1 600 nits of peak brightness in HDR.
  • There are significant improvements in connectivity thanks to the new Apple N1 and C1x chips, which handle Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thread radio.
  • With fast charging, we can reach 50% battery in about 30 minutes.
  • With iPadOS 26 and its new window management, the new iPad Pro offers support for 120 Hz external displays with Adaptive Sync.
  • Thanks to the M5 chip, it can render 3D scenes up to 6.7 times faster than the iPad Pro with M1, run local AI models smoothly with its 16-core Neural Engine and the new neural accelerators in the GPU, and edit 4K video in Final Cut Pro for iPad with 20% faster transcoding than the previous generation.

Vision Pro with M5 and Dual Knit Band

The Apple Vision Pro, though not yet available in Spain, receives its first major update since launch, with the new M5 chip and the Dual Knit Band. A more immersive and comfortable experience, with several noteworthy new features.

  • Rendering is sharper and the refresh rate of up to 120 Hz reduces blur and increases the sense of realism.
  • The new Dual Knit Band with integrated counterweight distributes weight more evenly and improves comfort during long sessions.
  • The Vision Pro M5 is compatible with the PlayStation VR2 Sense, which is key for more immersive gaming.
  • We get up to 3 hours of battery life for video playback, with the option to use it while plugged in.

The power of the M5 as the common thread

At the heart of all these updates is, as we’ve seen, the new M5 chip. We’re talking about a 3rd-generation 3 nm SoC with a 10-core CPU and a newly architected GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core and a 16-core Neural Engine.

Compared to the M4, it offers over 4 times the GPU computing power for AI applications and up to 45% more graphical performance in ray-traced apps. It also boasts 153 GB/s unified memory bandwidth to handle generative models and 3D scenes more smoothly.

In the 14-inch MacBook Pro, this translates into up to 1.6x more graphics performance and faster SSDs; in the iPad Pro, into a leap of up to 3.5x in AI; and in the Vision Pro, into 10% more rendered pixels and up to 120 Hz refresh for an even sharper and smoother experience.

The M5 also includes a newly redesigned power controller capable of dynamically balancing power consumption between CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine depending on the workload. This results in better thermal efficiency and improved battery life across all devices.

With these launches, Apple brings us better hardware that, alongside iOS 26, iPadOS 26, visionOS 26, and macOS Tahoe, is more powerful and more versatile. From the MacBook Pro for the most demanding professionals, to an iPad Pro that redefines portability, to a Vision Pro that becomes the gateway to spatial computing, this autumn’s updates enhance our devices’ capabilities so that we can do more with them.
