iOS 18.2

Apple has officially launched iOS 18.2, bringing enhanced Apple Intelligence, emoji customization through Genmoji, image creation with Image Playground, a redesigned Mail app, and much, much more. The list of new features is extensive, so let's dive right in and explore everything this update has to offer us.

  • Genmoji lets us create unique, personalized emojis using just a text description. Directly from the emoji keyboard, we can quickly generate multiple options and save our creations in the sticker drawer, synchronized across all our devices via iCloud.
  • Image Playground enables image generation from descriptions or photos. The app offers animation and illustration styles, along with thematic and accessory options to enhance our creations. These images sync automatically with iCloud and can be sent directly from Messages or Notes.
  • Siri now integrates with ChatGPT to answer complex questions while maintaining our privacy. Additionally, Writing Tools, which already help rewrite texts according to our needs, now leverage ChatGPT to create content from scratch based on our instructions.
  • Visual Intelligence arrives in the Camera Control. With a single photo, we can now gather information about an object or location, search the web, and even interact with ChatGPT for further inquiries.
  • Mail categorization automatically organizes our important emails, while the new Digest view groups messages from the same sender into a single block for easier navigation.
  • In Photos, navigation and album customization have been improved. We can swipe back to previous views, clear the recently viewed or shared albums history, and access the Favorites album directly from the Utilities collection. There's also an option to disable looped playback in the videos.
  • Safari now supports new customization backgrounds and prioritizes HTTPS connections, enhancing browsing security. Additionally, download activity is displayed on the Dynamic Island or home screen, making it easier to track files.
  • Voice Memos introduces layered track recording, allowing users to overlay voices onto previous recordings without needing headphones. Projects can be exported directly to Logic Pro for further editing.
  • The Find My app now lets us securely share the location of an AirTag or accessory. This feature is especially useful for locating lost luggage at airports or crowded venues.
  • Apple Music and Apple TV now support natural language searches, making it easier to find content by genre, mood, or decade.

There’s more! Among minor enhancements, AirPods Pro 2 now support hearing tests in Spain and other European countries. Sudoku puzzles with three difficulty levels are now available in Apple News+. The Stocks app now displays pre-market prices. Bug fixes include a resolution for an issue affecting recent photo displays and improvements to night photo quality.

How to update? We simply open the Settings app, go to General, and tap on Software Update. Within minutes, our iPhone will be updated and more capable of helping us with our daily activities.
