It’s almost here. After months of waiting, Apple has officially confirmed that Apple Intelligence will arrive in Europe in early April. Soon, we’ll be able to enjoy Apple’s artificial intelligence tools on our iPhone, iPad and Mac. A long-awaited arrival that opens the door to a new way of interacting with our devices. From writing to image editing, including Siri, Apple Intelligence is integrated into the system and makes it even smarter.
Apple Intelligence: integrated, invisible and very powerful
The first thing that stands out about Apple Intelligence is its total integration with the apps we already know. We don’t need to learn how to use a new app or change our way of working. We simply open Notes, Photos, Mail or any other app and find new options that make our day-to-day easier.
The Writing Tools, one of the pillars of Apple Intelligence, let us rewrite a text, summarise it or change its tone with a single tap. These tools are available in practically any text field in the system — of course also in those of third-party apps. If we’re writing an email, a note, a reminder or even a message in a messaging app, we can tap the new tools icon and let Apple Intelligence give us a hand.
Siri also makes a huge leap forward with Apple Intelligence. It now understands natural language much better and gives us more useful answers. For those moments when speaking aloud isn’t ideal, we can now type to Siri.
Genmoji, summaries, replies and much more
Another of the most striking tools coming with Apple Intelligence is Genmoji, which allows us to create custom emojis based on text descriptions. We can ask, for example, “a teddy bear with rainbow sunglasses and a red T-shirt,” and the system will generate several options to choose from. We can even create Genmoji of people using photos from our photo library.

Another very useful function is the ability to summarise emails or transcripts of phone calls. If we receive a long email, we can tap the corresponding button to generate a summary and see the key points right away. Thanks to Apple Intelligence, Mail can now show us important messages at the top of the inbox, and in Notes and Phone we can transcribe and summarise calls.

With Smart Reply in Mail and Messages, Apple Intelligence detects the key questions in a message and suggests a response we can send with just a couple of taps. Notifications also get smarter thanks to the new Reduce Interruptions focus mode, which only shows the most important alerts based on their content and context — ideal for staying focused without missing what really matters.

As for images, two impressive tools are on the way: Image Playground and Graphic Wand. The first is an app where we can create illustrations, sketches or animations from descriptions, choose styles, add details and export them. The second, available from the Notes app, turns a quick sketch into a complete image. We just circle it with a finger or Apple Pencil and let the AI work its magic.
If what we want is to improve our photos, with Clean Up we can remove unwanted elements from the background in seconds. A sign, a person, a poster… We tap it with a finger, and it disappears, keeping the rest of the image intact.
To wrap up, integration with ChatGPT will be available both within Siri and in the Writing Tools. Siri will be able to consult ChatGPT for certain tasks, always with our explicit permission. The use of ChatGPT is private and free.
Which devices are compatible and when it will be available
Apple Intelligence requires an A17 Pro chip or an M1 chip or later. So, we’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro, an iPad with M1 or newer, or a Mac also with M1 or newer. This includes the new iPad mini with A17 Pro, the latest iPad Pro and Air models, and the entire Mac range with Apple silicon, from the MacBook Air to the Mac Studio.
The rollout will begin in early April, with support in several languages, including Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. All part of the iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 update that Apple is already preparing.
In terms of security, Apple has designed Apple Intelligence so that privacy is guaranteed at all times — and that makes a big difference. Thanks to its design centred on on-device processing, our personal data never leaves the device. When something more complex needs to be processed, it’s done on specially designed servers with Apple chips, and nothing is ever stored. It’s an extension of our device and its privacy, but in the company’s private servers.
But Apple Intelligence is more than just a list of tools. It’s a new way of interacting with our devices — one that helps us express ourselves better, do more, and puts privacy at the centre of its design. One of the biggest leaps forward for our devices since the launch of the original iPhone is called Apple Intelligence.
